Why you should have an Aromatherapy treatment

Experience the ultimate in deep relaxation. Your tensions, anxieties and muscular aches & pains and so much more may be soothed and smoothed away with the powerful combination of massage and therapeutic properties of essential oils.

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy can be defined as the ancient art and science of blending naturally extracted essential oils from aromatic plants, to balance, harmonise and promote the health of body, mind and spirit.

Essential oils can only be extracted from aromatic plants, including flowers, leaves, roots, resins, seeds and fruit, with each essential oil having its own unique healing properties.

Aromatherapy is one of the most popular forms of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM).

It promotes health and aromatherapy massage may help alleviate a variety of minor medical conditions.

Aromatherapy aims to enhance well-being, relieve stress and help in the rejuvenation and regeneration of the human body. Essential oils have the unique ability of working not just on physical conditions when used with massage, but they can also have a positive effect on emotional wellbeing.  Aromatherapy can provide a relaxing and calming effect for those suffering with mental health problems, dementia and those receiving palliative care. As a result, it is also used in a variety of settings, including hospitals and hospices.

Reflexology, Aromatherapy & Lymph Drainage Massage are all relaxing, natural paths to better health.

Why is it called Advanced Aromatherapy?

Qualified Aromatherapists are trained not only extensively in different types of massage to a high standard, but also have an in depth knowledge of the properties, chemical composition and safe use of a large number of essential oils. They are trained to know how to blend these quality oils and use them to treat each client individually . This differentiates them from a large number of beauty therapists who have only a few weeks training in massage and are only allowed to use pre blended massage oils bought in from a shop or supplier. However they offer Aromatherapy massage using these pre blended oils. Thus to differentiate the 2 different levels of Aromatherapy Massage, some professional Aromatherapists use the term Advanced.

How often should I come for a treatment and what to expect during my session?

A course of 6-8 weekly treatments is the best way to receive the full benefits Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Lymph Drainage Massage. After the initial course a monthly maintenance programme is highly recommended.

Today, aromatherapy is widely accepted by orthodox and complementary practitioners as one of the most comprehensive natural therapies. In a typical aromatherapy session, the aromatherapist will ask questions about previous medical history, general health, wellbeing and lifestyle. This helps the practitioner to choose and blend the safest and most appropriate essential oils for the individual. The oils may be applied in combination with massage or with one of the other complementary sessions that I offer if appropriate.

I’ve turned to Lorraine a few times, always in times when I’ve either had an injury like a bad back or am just rather stressed and I need bringing back to equilibrium. She always delivers and I trust and recommend her highly. Graham Scott East Grinstead 13th July 2011 via LinkedIn
