Dear Friends and Clients,

For me this has been a year of consolidating old skills and learning very new skills. I continue to diversify to adapt myself to the uncertain economic client.  “Feel the fear and do it anyway! ” has been my motto this year. I continue to practise my therapies and my music for special needs adults but have added a brand new venture too.

Indian Head Massage and Reiki.

Last winter I qualified in Indian Head Massage which has proved very popular and also very useful for pamper parties,hen parties and on site massage in an office environment. This ancient therapy is performed while you are seated and clothed. You receive a wonderful upper back, neck, shoulder, upper arm, head and face massage. It is amazing how very relaxing it can be and can take the stress and strains off of you in just 30 minutes.
I also completed a Reiki 1 course.Reiki is a type of healing that works with the subtle energies.  I started Reiki 2 but events (see below) called me abroad and I never found the time to complete the written course work. However, as I anyway a qualified spiritual healer (since 1996), I use the extra Reiki atunements to enhance my healing sessions either during or after treatments. Many clients have commented on the increase in feeling of well being after these sessions.

Product news

This year I have re-launched my Eau de Parfum “Seduction”. You can read about it by clicking here. It is at a bargain price of £7.50 for 10ml. You can buy it on the store page or contact me directly. If you are interested in a larger size, I will probably have it on my Xmas list in a month or so.

I am also launching a new pure essential oil mix called “Tranquil Sun”. This balancing mixture of Vetiver, Lavender and Sweet Orange seems to balance the Chakras from crown to base , giving you a feeling of bathing in a tranquil sun. This will be available again in a month or so.

Otherwise, I will have all my usual favourite aromatic goodies for sale.

Feetivities

Morag and I continue to bring relaxation to your special day. Whether it is a hen night, special anniversary, wedding, pamper party or corporate event. In addition to being able to provide excellent foot massages, reflexology, aromatherapy and facials as part of the Feetivities repertoire, we both have added Indian Head Massage, having enjoyed attending the course together.

Our latest Feetivities “gig” was in Forest Row, where we pampered 10 lovely ladies who then went on to paint the town red in Brighton.

So this is the part where I tell you all about my new ventures. My sister Helen Doron is the founder and owner of an international franchise company that started 25 years ago with delivering creative and innovative Early English programmes. Her Early English is now a household name with learning centres in over  30 countries. A few years ago, the Helen Doron Educational Group expanded its methodologies to encompass maths and movement.

So where do I fit into all of this? Helen has asked me to showcase her Mathriders and Ready Steady Move! programmes in the UK. In March I trained and qualified to teach Ready Steady Move! (more about that below) and then in August I became a teacher for  MathJogs, the primary school level of MathRiders.

MathJogs teaches your 4 -11 year old to think like a mathematician through fun activities and group interaction.
It helps develop the child’s confidence and social skills too. In small groups of up to 8 children, the child is taken through a well structured weekly lesson plan that complies with the national curriculum. Children learn to live and love maths and their school grades reflect that. The confidence they acquire through the group lessons spreads to all aspects of their lives.

We had great fun practising and delivering the lessons on the teachers training course and can only imagine how much more fun the children will have absorbing the maths in this way.

I am giving free demo lessons in the Forest Row Community Centre on Thursday 16th September. Booking is essential as the groups are limited to 8 children only and I need to be able to allocate the child to the right level. There is no obligation once you have attended but I am certain you will be suitably impressed.

if you cannot make the 16th September or Forest Row is too far, then let me know you are interested and I will arrange a different date in your area. Spread the word. Please let anybody you know who has a child between the ages of 4 -11 of this new programme being piloted in this area.

Ready Steady Move!

I love this programme too. For  ages 3 – 8 , this methodology incorporates different streams of movement such as Yoga, Pilates, world dance, martial arts with fun activities that also impart a basic vocabulary of a second language to the child. During the 2 year programme the child can absorb up to 400 words while learning the joys of movement too. The child will then have a great foundation for going on to learn a second language at school. The theory behind this is that an active body is a learning body.

I will be delivering Ready Steady Move in French.

Stress, Deep Relaxation and Aromatherapy.

Stress is the main cause of of illness. Nevertheless we hear people say that the “thrive” on stress. This is an illusion. A long term overload of stress eventually leads to malfunctioning on a physical, emotional and mental level.

What is Stress?

A stressful situation, anger and anxiety all activate the adrenal glands to release the hormone adrenalin, often referred to as the “fight of flight” response. This puts our physical systems on red alert. It speeds up breathing and heart rate, constricts blood vessels, slows down digestion and kidney activity. Designed for short , sharp periods to protect primitive man from danger, in modern man adrenalin is often in constant production. This puts the heart, lungs, blood vessels, muscles, digestion and urinary system under constant duress or distress.
Negative stress puts the body under such tension as to to impair basic cellular functioning, often manifesting itself in an ailment in a person’s “weak spot”. Stress is like a tourniquet cutting off blood and nerve supply. On a more subtle level, vital energy cannot flow correctly through the channels or meridians.

Most of us hold on to tensions in our body habitually, without being conscious of it. We keep out shoulders raised, our teeth clenched or our hand held in a fist. It is amazing how hard it is to “let go”. But it is just in those places to which we hold on to the most that we will cause disorders. This also holds true for emotional and mental disorders.

Deep Relaxation Restores Balance And Harmony

When we relax deeply we let go right down to our cells and allow our body to flow again, harnessing its natural healing abilities. We release emotional and mental tensions as well. Therefore regular deep relaxation helps promote and maintain physical, emotional and mental health, restoring harmony and balance. Deep relaxation, combined with a healthy lifestyle is a very important factor in all round good health.

What is Deep Relaxation?

Deep relaxation is not the same as sleeping or just resting. In deep relaxation our brain waves slow down to a lower frequency known as Alpha. Every day,” on the go”  brain waves are known as Beta. The more we relax, the deeper we go into the  Alpha state and in this state relaxation and letting go are very significantly deeper than in ordinary rest or sleep.

Yoga, Aromatherapy Massage, Reflexology, Reiki,  certain types of music and dance and enjoying nature are some of the excellent ways of entering the Alpha state.

Aromatherapy and Deep Relaxation

Aromatherapy is a holistic therapy using therapeutic essential oils extracted from aromatic plants. Essential oils have a multitude of therapeutic properties and many of them have an aroma which for most people have an immediate calming and relaxing effect. Used in the bath, burner or diluted in a carrier oil for massage, these oils are an excellent aid to meditation and will enhance any mode of entering the Alpha state.

Professional Aromatherapy treatments are first and foremost extremely relaxing. They are a wonderful way of letting go of the stresses and strains of life. Aromatherapy treatments combine the luxury of touch, of feeling good, deep relaxation and wonderful aromas (specially chosen for you) with the many benefits of massage. You can relax deeply, enjoy a therapeutic massage whilst undergoing a holistic healing process.

Many ailments such as backaches, various aches and pains, muscular and nervous tension, insomnia, emotional disturbances, headaches, skin complaints, menstrual and digestive disorders and many more can all be helped by Aromatherapy.

A professional Aromatherapist will give you advice on daily deep relaxation at  home in between treatments, suggest appropriate oils to use at home and  give advice on exercise an diet.

Aromatherapy is probably the best complementary therapy for combating stress. Try it and see for yourself.

There is a great range of relaxing oils to choose from and nearly everybody can find one or more suited to his or her personality and personal taste. The essential oils can be combined in synthesis to create a unique personal and relaxing aroma.

There  are scires if essential oils on the market, however I recommend the folowing to induce relaxation and help counteract stress: Bergamot, Geranium , Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Roman Chamomile, Frankincense, Vetivert, Clary Sage, Rose, Neroli and Jasmine.

My excellent Organic French  Lavender has been used and loved all over the world; France, Israel, Australia, Ireland, Spain. 

9.00 am.This morning I could not bring myself to go to the swimming pool . The thought of the hassle of all the preparation and then battling for a lane etc. I just was not in the mood.

I often do Yoga, especially when I have a back or neck ache and It helps a lot. I often recommend that my clients learn Yoga. I actually learned my routine from a video many years ago.  Not many of my clients take my advice. Probable because they prefer to be helped by my healing massage or Reflexology treatments.

However it’s not always possible to get to a therapist just as the tension and pain is kicking in. That is when Yoga or stretching of some kind is invaluable.

That leads me to what I did this morning instead of going swimming……..I turned on SKY 275 and had my own private Yoga session. A client of mine told me about this channel “Body in Balance”. It is basically lots of Yoga and I think maybe Pilates (not sure) lessons one after the other. All in the comfort of your home.

I thoroughly enjoyed my private lesson, learned some new Yoga postures and I feel great now.
